Greenpower at Croft
North East Regional Heat 2010
Formula 24+ Round 4
Wednesday 7th July 2010
Wednesday 7th July 2010 sees the annual Greenpower @ Croft event, in partnership with IMechE NE, take place at Croft Circuit. Supporting schools and pupils from ages 9 and above, Greenpower has worked tirelessly since its conception in 1999 to make the scheme the success it is today. The Croft event has been held since 2003 and has always had a good turnout. This year will see an impressive 27 out of a maximum permissible 30 teams competing in tightly regulated battery powered machines.
The event promises to be an excellent day. Local schools are attending to offer their support and hopefully sign up to race in the series next year. Schools from all over the country are coming to the North East to compete and showcase their vehicles. Formula 24 and 24+ are the main races of the day but due to such high levels of commitment from schools, a small Formula Goblin event for ages 10 to 12 will also take place.
Russell Group University pledges support to Greenpower @ Croft
The event’s main sponsor, Newcastle University, stands alongside Cummins, Sembcorp and the IMechE in its support of the event. When all of these components are united, a path from primary education to industry can be traced that could produce world leading professionals.
