Croft BTCC – June 2011 review
Croft BTCC – June 2011 review
The delight that is the British Touring Car Championship rolled into Croft and provided us with mognificent entertainment amidst an ever-changing panoply of weather conditions.
Friday saw the other series out for free practice and they used their time to explore the limits of the track and their vehicles
before qualifying and their first races on Saturday.
The Tourers got out in variable conditions on Saturday.
Andrew Jordan reminded us of his Rallycross experience with this nice drift out of the Chicane
while others took the Rallycross experience
perhaps a little too far.
Although Sunday’s weather was rather moderate at first, large crowds still flocked to the circuit to enjoy the racing. Matt Neil won the first race and
a couple of hours later we waited for the second to begin
After another race,
another close race,
Neil came home with another win without repeating any close encounters with his team mate, Gordon Shedden
By the time the final BTCC race came round at the end of the afternoon, the track was dry and there was a golden sun in the sky. As a reward for the team’s efforts, and no doubt aided by Supporters Club members urging him on, Matt Jackson held off the BMWs to take a popular and well deserved win.
All in all a great weekend and a pleasure to be part of it.
