Croft Circuit Cycle Races - 28th June 2011 Round 12
The Juvenile race began the evening’s entertainment in fine style.
and although the sky looked a bit dramatic at times
there was no repeat of the recent thunder, lightning and hail.
In fact some of the riders looked quite relaxed
while others looked extremely relaxed
However this was deceptive and supreme efforts were made
as the race developed and these continued
until the finish.
As always, the senior event followed and traced its route amongst the agriculture.
However there was little time for this bucolic beauty as it got very busy on the track.
Four abreast round the chicane ? No problem.
Young Harry Tanfield continues to impress and finished in third place.
Alice Grieve (leading) rode in close company with Hannah Conlin who turned the tables in the sprint to be first lady.
There were several attacks as the finish loomed closer but determined chases meant that there was no successful break.
At the line this left Rob Carter at the head of the bunch to win the sprint from David Johnson, Harry Tanfield and Craig Anderson.
Such was the closeness of the finish that the first seven riders finished within a second of each other and the first eleven were within a second and a quarter.
