Croft Greenpower 6th July 2011

The greatly anticipated return of Greenpower to Croft took place on a day of what might be called mixed weather conditions. However there was no dampening of the enthusiasm of the participants and when your school bears the name of a world famous engineer, taking part seems an obvious choice.

The day began in wet conditions

However, it seemed that for every minute of those four hours,

the pit wall was jammed team members and supporters.
The racing was close at times

The breakdown support crews worked tirelessly on what is one of their busiest days

A group of enthusiastic adults, without whom there would be no event, was ever – present.

After four hours of serious but good natured competition there was a winner by a fairly narrow margin

and a happy crew collected the gold medals for which they had worked so hard.

And from my point of view it was a privilege to be there and witness education in its truest sense. So much better than ticking boxes and doing SATs.
