Croft Circuit Cycle Races 12th July 2011 – Round 14
The penultimate races of the TLI Tuesday night series took place on a night that was dry but rather cool for July and with the sort of flat light that makes photographers try to make a virtue out of slow shutter speeds.
Of course the juveniles were undaunted by any of this and hordes of them
appeared on the start line
ready to begin their race.
And from that point until the finish
each rider or group of riders
applied maximum effort to the race.
The seniors followed with their excursion through the North Yorkshire countryside.
There was a good showing from some of the younger
riders
and from my lofty perch amongst the trees round ‘Sunny’ corner, it seemed many of the earlier starters were working hard.
While I was round the back of the circuit a fairly large crash occurred approaching the Chicane. It was reported that most injuries were fairly superficial although, as a precaution, an ambulance was called for one rider.
The white group didn’t seem to be quite so organised or predatory as in some previous weeks and failed to catch the others. Best of them in eleventh place was Neil Buckley some two and a half seconds in arrears.
The well earned victory went to Matthew Enticknapp by less than a hundredth of a second from Carl Martin. Next and within about a fifth of a second of the winner were juniors James King then Levi Lawrence. The first six riders were within a second of each other and the first ten were within two.
REMINDER : Next week’s races take place on Thursday 21st NOT Tuesday 19th.
