Looking forward to the Nostalgia Weekend 6-7th Aug 2011
A mouthwatering selection of machinery was assembled in the pit lane last Tuesday in eager anticipation of the forthcoming Nostalgia weekend.
Just one of a number of eye catching vehicles was this C-Type Jaguar replica which originated in New Zealand.
A small contingent from ENSA kept us thoroughly entertained in the style of George Formby.
Participants entered into the spirit by dressing appropriately for the occasion
and in true wartime spirit, when they saw a queue they promptly joined it.
It turned out to be a bus queue and the driver was none other than BBC Look North presenter Peter Lugg, shown here being driven round in the C-type.
During the afternoon the different groups of vehicles paraded round the circuit. Rolling round inside the rear hatch of a Volvo wasn’t perhaps the most comfortable photographic job I’ve undertaken but it was certainly one of the more interesting ones.
Should you ever hear anyone complain that the Hairpin is tight or narrow just refer them to this picture.
There were race prepared cars
and sports cars
with a good selection of E Type Jaguars in honour of this year’s anniversary.
The military were well prepared to resist invasion
And what is it they say about buses, you wait all day and then three . . . .
And by the end of the afternoon we were all really looking forward to the forthcoming feast of family entertainment.
